What an afternoon, such fun, Kath from Mountain Views came to take some photos of members of Gillian’s Rainbow Bridge to compliment a celebratory article in a coming edition of our local paper. As you may already know Gill’s program has been successful in receiving a $20,000.00 grant from the RACV Community Foundation, to develop our activity room and establish programs for children who have been facing so many challenges in life.
Well the afternoon was full of fun, working together and all doing our best to get ‘the shot’. We decided to use Gill’s bridge and rainbow, so off we went lugging this heavy hand made bridge and wobbly, at times, rainbow. Once set up in the perfect spot and making sure we could see the sheep shed in the background we were ready for the animals to join in.
Clare took charge of Arrow who has an unbelievable desire to eat, so with a container of sheep pellets was easily encouraged to stand on Gill’s bridge, chomping away happily as long as the food didn’t run out we were right.
Rosie lead by Marlene, a true friend, stood quietly until the replica rolex watches shot was about to be taken, Rosie decided to do a fancy side pass so quickly needed re-positioning.
Ginger, Gemma and Malone did their best, but getting too close to Rosie was a bit too much for Gemma to cope with and Malone did his usual sniffing all the visitors in places where he shouldn’t, even large hand bags were used for protection.
Charlotte, lead by Mick, was not impressed with having a halter on her for the first time, so she went off in a totally different direction, Mick doing his best to get her back in the photo.
Lylah bumped her head on the bridge, her bravery was to be commended.
Marlene’s friend Julie, was holding a rainbow coloured umbrella which turned inside out as the wind nearly took it away.
Kath was standing there, camera in hand, a look of ‘I just don’t think this is going to work’ on her face as Marlene said “the rain is coming” and I was sitting on the bridge, near Lylah, trying to get Gemma to look at the camera, asking Arrow to eat a little slower, Clare raced off to get more supplies and I suggested Lylah hold Ginger in her arms as she went all limp and floppy.
As you can imagine, there were heaps of suggestions flying around, laughter overtaking all of us and Gill thinking, I love it!
As Kath was leaving, her beautiful burgundy and gold shoes looking a bit sad and soggy, she said she can’t wait to go back to the office and tell the staff what an easy afternoon she has just had. Just a simple afternoon taking a quick photo for the local paper!
From Left to Right: - Charlotte the rescue sheep, next to Mick (One of the skilled people who will be making
