My Day at Grand Valley Spinner's & Weavers Bi-annual 'SPIN IN'
Date:15th April 2014|Category:General
Greetings, greetings, greetings and more happy greetings met me as I arrived at the “Spin In” early Monday morning. The hall was a hive of activity as Grand Valley members went about their tasks. I found my usual spot on the veranda eager to get set up. The day promised to be full of learning new skills, meeting well known faces, selling fleeces and cottage garden plants as well as promoting Gillian’s Rainbow Bridge cards and teas. People loved Gill’s cards and relished in a hot liquorice lovers, chai or well-being tea-all chosen from the many flavours Tea Tonic has on offer. Gillian’s Rainbow Bridge is now selling these tantalising organic teas, so give us a call if you would like to know more.
I was speaking to a lovely lady Jill, whom I have known for many years, she knew my Gillian when she was about 5 or 6. My heart jumped a beat as she spoke of Gill, her young cheerful happy face stays imbedded in Jill’s memories. She couldn’t resist purchasing a pack of Gill’s cards. Thanks Jill.
There was a constant flow of inquisitive people viewing my stall. I enjoyed talking to them, listening to their array of fascinating knowledge and stories which they were happy to pass on to me. One man in particular, had me fascinated, as he told me about the history of Angora Goats. I loved it!
My sister in-law, Judy, Gill’s aunty, has been a member of this creative group for many years. She has to be the tinniest person I know!! Judy was unwell however managed to call in for a few minutes, just as she was leaving she eagerly showed me her finds. A huge white rounded stuffed sheep, to take home to Pearl, her granddaughter, something else, which I have forgotten what it is, and an old tin box full of antique cotton reels adorned in coloured threads. What a treasure! If only I had gone inside a few minutes earlier!! Judy went home with a big smile on her face.
I was thrilled with the day. I caught up with many familiar faces, was spoilt with afternoon tea and lots of hot cuppa’s, basked in the autumn sun and sold lots of fleeces and plants. Then, topped it off with sales of Gillian’s Rainbow Bridge cards and Tea Tonic packs. I love the Montrose bi-annual “Spin In”. Thank-you Grand Valley Spinner’s and Weaver’s for putting on such a wonderful event. See you all next time.
